Legitimate rape. Gift-from-God rape. She-was-asking-for-it rape.
To hell with all these categorisations. Rape is rape and there shouldn't be any victim-blaming or rapist-protecting whether you're pro-life or not.
Another thing I don't get is why is it that what a woman does with her body is subject to parliamentary debate? Who are you to say whether she can or cannot get an abortion? Is that your child in her womb? Sod off.
If we were to use the Divine as an argument then who in the world charged you with the authority to speak for God? Did God say that? He certainly didn't tell me.
How long does it take to drill it into your mind that rape is not 'provoked' by dressing but by the rapist's messed up psyche? Why then are some women who dress decently, all covered up, raped?
I don't even think Mourdock is of a recognised religion if his God allows a new life to come into being through something that He abhors ie. rape.
There are so many things to rant about these screwed up MALE politicians I can't even.
It bothers me that I'm living in a time when my female body is subjected to the scrutiny and debates of the state, that my body isn't mine to own; that I'm the one at fault if my body has been sexually violated; that whatever happens to me it is divinely intended.
It bothers me even more to hear someone telling me that if I'm so unfortunate as to be raped, I should just "relax and enjoy it". I'd like to see you enjoy being raped Mr. Williams.
I'm not just referring to females here. There are male rape victims too. All of us are potential rape victims, and we should just "relax and enjoy it" if it's "inevitable".
How is rape ever going to be enjoyable.
They speak as if rape is a paper cut, slicing of a finger, a slap across the face. They think it's a tear drop on your cheek that you can just wipe away with your knuckle and you'll be fine. Yes, you can rise from the shadows of that terrible event but it doesn't mean that thinking about it is as easy as laughing off a fall from your first bicycle ride.
No, it's very painful. The more you think about it the more it hurts.
You don't dwell upon it, you try to forget it. But even if you are able to admit that such a traumatic event happened, that you can do nothing about it but be strong and carry on, the pain increases every time you are reminded of that incident.
No, sirs, you don't know what you're talking about. You think making such sweeping statements make you sound so radical and masculine. You forgot that you're not just talking about every female or your female family members, you're talking about yourself as well. We are all potential rape victims. It's not just women, it's everyone.
