I'm hooked onto a few songs lately. They're all very sentimental (I'm a sentimental-emotional wreck).
Lately, I've developed a strong liking towards Owl City's songs. Perhaps it's a sign that I too will suffer from insomnia. Then I'll start writing lyrics without full stops in my basement, with my dog.
There is something about his songs. When I listen to them, there is a feeling of peaceful solitude and a scant tinge of sweetness. In simple terms, I associate his songs with night time: 'Vanilla Twilight', 'Fireflies' and 'The Saltwater Room'.
Puissant emotions in his writings and composition. He blends in the feeling of night time in dictions without any connotation to night.
Now there's a great poet.
A sweet and romantic ballad by Take That, also one of my favourites -- 'Rule the World'.
It fits in with the movie 'Stardust' perfectly. Even when you listen to it alone, without relating the lyrics to the movie, it just melts you.
Oh, and Gary Barlow's voice is superb. There's a sultry quality in his voice which enhances the effect. Anyway, let's not get too analytical here. I'm more of a 'feeling' person, and I believe 'feeling' doesn't need to be analysed.
Chieh, Edmund, Chloe and I love 'So Close' by Jon McLaughlin. It's the song that will melt you and you won't get tired of listening to it.
I remember listening to it in the car, eyes heavy with fatigue. The sound volume was overwhelming but the song was so quiet. It's as if he's whispering it into your ears, there's a sense of intimacy there that makes you wanna fall in love with him.
This is a must-play song in my wedding. Shall jot it down.
Besides those, I'm still into the oldies -- 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' covered by Westlife, 'Fly Me to the Moon' covered by Olivia and 'How Deep is Your Love' by the Bee Gees.
Then, because of WingYie, I'm listening to Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake - Ballet Suite' and Chopin's 'Études Op. 10' again.
Bought tickets for 'The Damnation of Faust' which will be performing in MPO on the 25th of July. Going to watch it with Chieh. It's gonna be a nice afternoon, listening to French operas and window shopping in Suria KLCC.
P/S: May is my study month. I hope I won't succumb to temptation.
