Raw Nuggets aka China-ASEAN #10

I don't know what got into mom. She gave Damien the green light to cook.

He fried the nuggets, which turned out to be raw.

Eww... I'm getting diarrhea later.

Woke up at 5 am, flew to Beijing.

I'm starting to like the food they serve on the plane (far better than raw nuggets).

The airport people asked us to take off our shoes, apparently they're afraid I'll hide a bomb in my shoe.

Met with our tour guide, he's called Chris (finally we have a male tour guide, someone who can protect us girls).

During lunch, one of the dishes was a plate of French fries. We were like, "Omg, what's this amazing, tasty thing?"

Then... we went to the GREAT WALL.

Climbed the Great Wall once when I was 4.

But that was the Badaling Pass.

This is the Juyong Pass.

Wafiy was so excited (who wouldn't be? We're climbing one of the 7 Wonders of the New World).

Didn't take much pictures, though.

Beneath the scorching sun, amidst the sweltering heat, put yourself in my shoes.

After using up half of the strength I have to get my sunblock lotion back from Octo, a quarter of it went to holding an umbrella, all of it went to climbing the steps meant for giants.

I still got strength to take out the camera aa?

I don't know how high above sea level we were.

But it wasn't cooler, it got hotter.

Was following Mr. Saiful and Wafiy, Octo and Fify already ahead of us. Ramzi was further up, of course.

They wanted to climb to 888 steps.

Unlike Ramzi who ran all the way to the top. Mr. Saiful, Wafiy and I climbed a little, stopped for a rest (they found a natural air-cond on the walls).

The scenario repeated for a few times and finally (FINALLY), we reached the top.

One ang moh helped us to take this picture.

Thais, Malaysians, Bruneians and 2 of the Burmese.

We have certificates, a proof we climbed the Great Wall.

The journey down was scarier and harder. Our legs were still shaking even when we reached the exit.

Kudos to Ms. Dini for the picture.

All of us, at the exit/entrance after climbing down the Great Wall.

In conclusion, I've climbed the Great Wall... wearing the CF shirt!

I purposely took the CF shirt there for that purpose lo... 'cause it's so pretty and there's a verse from Isaiah 6v8: Here I am, send me!

On the way to the restaurant for dinner (yea I know we just ate lunch but hey we burnt a lot of calories and energy already lo, evem Ibu Irma was hungry), we got our cameras ready.

Snapping pictures of Beijing, capital of China...

... your head. Who wants to take pictures of Beijing anyway.

Can you see the Water Cube?

OMG that's the Bird's Nest!

Omg omg omg...

Bird's Nest~

Olympics... I saw the main Olympics stadium face-to-face...

Ok enough about the Olympics.

We went to dine in the well known restaurant that serves the best Beijing Roast Duck in the world...

Quanjude, you can go google it.

The dishes were all duck. Roast duck, fried duck (tasted good), duck soup, steamed duck...

See how the guy sliced the roast duck (don't drool now).

It was sooooo good.

Our hotel has a very nice lobby but very disgusting and ugly toilets.

We took the subway to Xidan.

Can you picture it? Foreigners in Beijing (mostly for the first time) taking the subway.

Wow. Only cost RM 1... so cheap...

Bought a lot of things. Too bad the shops close at 9.30pm (such a crime).

The main problem was taking the subway back. Officials had to check our bags, just like in the airport.

Have you taken the KTM? Imagine the Beijing subway to be double as full as KTM during 6pm.

We had to divide into groups to squeeze into the train ('cause the last train is at 10.30pm, and it's almst 10.10pm). JR pushed Octo in first.

And she was ALONE in the train. I was worried, what if someone robs her or kidnaps her?

LinBing and JR said that it's ok because she's street smart. That didn't ease me up.

Finally we squeezed into the train.

Wafiy found Octo in tears. Thank God she was alright.

Lesson learned: When using the Beijing subway, must always say, "Don't push, don't push!"
