My Chinese Not Bad, OK?

I know that most people think my English is better than my Chinese.


'Cause I read more English novels than Chinese ones (the fact is that 99.9% of Chinese novels NOT related to lovey-duvey stuff are translated works, and you know how much I don't like that).

'Cause I watch more English movies and TV shows than Chinese ones (you tell me which Chinese movie and TV show don't have Taiwan girls trying all their might to squeeze their eyes out, puff their cheeks to look devilishly-ugly-cute).

'Cause I listen to more English songs than Chinese ones (the music not catchy enough, and the lyrics are... well you know me, too lovey-duvey).

'Cause I speak more English than Chinese (this is a big fat LIE, I speak more Chinese ok).

Anyway, I didn't win for the KL Chinese Essay Writing Competition.

But I did went for the prize-giving ceremony yesterday cum Chinese Creative Writing Seminar. To prove that my Chinese and English are of the same standard.

Early in the morning teacher want us to climb the hill in Jln Duta.

I wake up at 5am still want me to climb hill without breakfast...

The participants. I heard there are 320 of us.

Saw Nick and Soon Vin. Nick looked so blur. Don't know why everytime we meet he doesn't recognise me. But at least yesterday he gave me the 'peace' sign when I waved.

Get specs, Nick.

Chinese Department in the Education Ministry very generous one ok? They give free food and feed us like pigs. Last year we had like 4 meals in 9 hours.

Beside the canteen is some forest, got monkeys.

The fried meehoon very salty. But we ate like hungry pigs.

Kim Li called all 10 of us her chicks. And we called her the hen.

Started with the workshop about writing novels/short stories.

The speaker was from Sin Chew newspaper, one of the editors I think.

In the middle of her talk, she let us watch S.H.E's music video 'I Love You'.

10 seconds through the video Kim Li and I laughed like maniacs. The video is so 'dog' le (read this in Chinese).

I know I'm not romantic la. Just watch it and you'll understand.

Then it was the workshop on writing poems. The guy second from the right is my uncle 'cause we have the same surname.

Joking la.

I told Kim Li the guy second from the left gave me the impression of a truck driver.

Sorry la I know it's rude but... he looks like my real uncle who is a truck driver.

Anyway who said truck drivers look-a-like cannot be good poets? Who knows maybe real truck drivers can write better than poets.

My 'uncle' said the best poem can be written after you dated someone.


Then it was the production session.

Write either a short story or a poem.

I challenged both.


The guy who sat beside me was so kind to lend Kim Li and I his correction fluid. Thanks ya.


Kim Li wrote 4 poems.

Then it was lunch time. Got chicken, vege and egg.

Not bad~

New additions of Chinese book to my book rack.

Now you can't say I read more English books 'cause now they're even.

Anyway these are free.

I enjoyed it (and the food) all in all. ^^
