Jane Austen Syndrome

Reasons why Caryn and I prefer Jane Austen's books more than Charlotte Brontë's:

• Jane Eyre is so whiny.
• Elizabeth Bennet is a girl with a mind of her own fraught with ambition.
• Mr. Rochester is a bastard.
• Mr. Darcy's middle name is Sexy.
• Charlotte Brontë was depressed and she wants the whole world to be depressed.

Some people say Jane Austen is desperate, that's why she write stories of girls hunting for rich husbands.

We have 'Desperate Housewives' in the 21st century, they have desperate virgins in the 18th century.

Then again... why are we desperate?

Is it so important for us to have boyfriends or girlfriends? Even if you like or love each other very much, doesn't mean you have to be together.

We're barely 18. Age is not an issue. But won't you rather have fun now? Why commit yourself to someone else when it's the prime of your teenage life?

It's so annoying to hear people ranting that they're single, experiencing unrequited love, a certain someone is oxygen to them and without him or her they can't breathe.

It's not fucking necessary to be together even if you do like each other. Because when they leave you, you'll whine like your parents died or something.
