Frivolous Book Lover Held Culpable for Frolicking

As I mentioned in yesterday's entry, I'll be in Time Square today. With Aunt Jennifer and Brian.

No, I didn't travel via LRT (expensive ler); I went by bus. What to do? I can't afford to take the LRT...

Aunt Jennifer wanted to have lunch first. I was at the escalator when I saw a familiar face, but there was a shade of orange on his hair. Soon, he disappeared behind the pillar at the main entrance.

I left Aunt Jennifer and Brian to look at the directory, and walked towards the pillar. I was curious. It must be him!! I can recognise that face anywhere! It should be him.

But at the same time, a part of my brain denies it. Reasons for that denial somersaulted in my head...

Perhaps there's something wrong with my eyes. No, maybe it's his twin brother.

Wait... I know Philix has a twin brother but... it's just not possible for him to have another twin brother! I mean... I just think it's impossible.

While theories continue to ricochet in my mind, I found myself staring into another proverbial visage.

"Philix!!" I called as his eyes widened and he called out my name.

Philix wasn't the only one there, I saw Marcus, a girl (very pretty, I'm so jealous) and... A!!

"What happened to your hair?!" I drawled.

All of a sudden, the smart and good boy image A built in my mind shattered into tiny shards. I stared at him in disbelief as he greeted me (partially astonished by his hair colour, partially spell bounded by his charming face).

Philix said, "He does that to his hair when he hangs out with us. There was even once he had blue hair!" Oh... so that's the other side of him...

Just like Wei Ming, very smart and very good boy. But he watches WWE.

Of course, I wanted to snap a picture of him. But he won't stay put. Had to chase him around the pillar. Yet, I remembered the skill Calvin taught me. So...

Hopefully nobody (exclude those who were on the spot) recognises him.

Obviously, you shouldn't expect much from me when it comes to photography.

I was satisfied after snapping that picture. I walked off with my family for lunch. We went to a Hong Kong style restaurant. The service was rather bad... serving us wrong dishes. Nevermind, as long as the food is good.

The main point I wanted to go to Time Square was to visit Borders (genes from 'mom'). I brought quite a sum of money to get a few books.

Such a blessing to be able to indulge in a sea of books.

I brought along a list of all the books I want.
  • Peter Pan in Scarlet -- Geraldine McCaughrean
  • My Swordhand is Singing -- Marcus Sedgwick
  • Among the White Moonfaces -- Shirley Lim
  • Marie Antoinette: The Journey -- Antonia Fraser
  • Nineteen Minutes -- Jodi Picoult
  • New Moon -- Stephenie Meyer
  • 100% Perfect Girl vol. 1 & 2 -- Wann
  • Lolita -- Vladimir Nabokov
  • War & Peace -- Leo Tolstoy
  • The Last Unicorn -- Peter S. Beagle
  • The Poe Shadow -- Matthew Pearl

But most of them (especially the ones that I want badly) are above RM 50. *sob*

I want this badly... *sob*

If you want to buy me a birthday gift, this will be the best. It's RM 69.90. Of course, a group of you good people can team up and divide among yourselves.

Not necessarily that book la, any book from the list above is equally good.

I was stunned by the prices of the books, which are all so expensive. How does the government expect us to read more when the books are so expensive??

My Malay is very poor. I don't know is this a mistake or not... you decide.

I know there's 'telur' and 'telor', they each have different meanings. But 'berumur' and 'berumor'...

Went to look for 'The Black Mages' and some soundtracks. Found nothing I want.

As always, before I leave a shopping mall, I will always buy some bread for my family. Went to Bread Story (I can stay there all day just to enjoy the aroma).

Serious traffic jam outside Time Square. All going back to their hometowns, I reckon.

I'm so happy...

I bought 'New Moon'. Although it's RM 39.50... I still couldn't resist it. I've never been so infatuated...
