"What the *toot*... she's back so early??"
It was unwise to ask the maid where's mom, 'cause mom always think that I don't like her being home on a weekday afternoon (not all the time la, just sometimes I don't like it).
I checked her room to see if she's sleeping... but NO ONE'S inside. *the coast is clear*
*immitated Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 3*
*Mission Impossible 3 theme song*
Chery : Where's mom?
Maid : She went out.
Chery : With dad?
Maid : With a man, never seen him before.
Chery : WTF!!
This sounds so suspicious... What if mom met with trouble (you can say that she's quite a trouble-seeker)? Great, what if that guy's a Malay and she argued with him like the last time? Oh God bring me to my mom now!!
People say that mom-daughter ties cannot be broken, if the either one seem to be in trouble, the other can't do anything peacefully.
Guess what I did.
I went for a bath and slept for half an hour. Until the maid woke me up.
I came down and had a light lunch (peanut butter sandwich ^^), was about to turn on the TV when my piano teacher came.
She took out my books and caught the sight of me trying to help the music scores I photocopied to escape (my piano teacher loves to comment on arranged music scores and soundtracks, and then she will ask me to play, and then she will comment on me).
Ms. Ng : What song is this? To Za-na-can??
Chery : To Zarnakand, from FFX (why am I telling her that anyway, as if she knows FFX)
Ms. Ng : Soundtrack?? Does it sound nice on piano?
Chery : I heard the piano version, I found it alright.
Ms. Ng : Oh... what's this?? (the title of the song was blurred in the process of photocopying)
Chery : Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu (please don't make me play that)...
Ms. Ng : That's a nice song!!
Chery : I got lost in the second page, crazy speed.
Ms. Ng : Hmm... let's play.
I was near death.
When it was Damien's turn, I gently untangle my fingers and called mom.
Mom : Hello?
Chery : Where are you?
Mom : In Muar.
Chery : Walao... lu zo mi dui Muar (it's Hokkien)?
Mom : Lin bu suka aa~
Chery : Is there something I don't know?
Mom : No, don't think so.
Chery : What time will you be back?
Mom : Don't know, not sure.
Chery : Work half way then go back to Muar... you said you need to work harder 'cause short of money... someone gave birth to someone?
Mom : No lah, some emergency.
Chery : Ooo... k la, bye.
!@#$%!@#$%^&*
She went back to Muar.
I reckon someone got knocked down by a bull cart.
To all fans of my little baby brother --- Damien, here's something for you guys.
Future model of Ford Modelling Company~
I sensed something different in Shin lately. I thought it was just me imagining things when Yen told me that she felt that Shin changed.
Ahh... Xia and I are at such a precarious state. That's why sometimes I don't trust guys. Let's say that if a guy came to a girl and talked then they realise they have the same likings... that girl will surely tie herself to that guy for the time being.
Oh, believe me... I know these things. Damien is a pro at this, I lost count of his various girlfriends and fans.
Recalling the death of Luciano Pavarotti,
I related it to the death of one of my church's elders.
Then again I thought of the 14 year-old daughter of dad's colleague who was taken away by cancer last month.
Following that was the news of one of my friends now diagnosed with cancer.
Life is so vulnerable, so fragile.
I knew the tenor had some serious illness and *poof* he died.
I was aware of Dr. Koh's condition ('cause he always fall ill a year before his death).
I've seen that 14 year-old girl once, we played Monopoly together and what was left now are memories.
I was close to my dear friend and we once played catch-me-if-you-can on the field, now she couldn't even stand.
One second ago, everything was as fine as usual.
One second after, something disappeared abruptly from the surface of the earth.
What was left were memories, legacies and "Once upon a time..."
